Another 5K to stretch your legs!
OK, local runners, it's time to add another race to your calendar!
The Hams and Hamstrings 5K is set for 8 a.m. April 8 at InterQuest business park, 10807 New Allegiance Drive, in north Colorado Springs.
“I’ve run the course a few times and it’s great. It’s a unique mix of on and off road running that should be fun for serious runners as well as casual runners,” said Curtis Claar, co-founder and sponsor relations manager for race organizer Bigwig Races.
The course will be certified by USA Track & Field and is mostly flat. The event will be open to walkers as well.
Prizes will be offered for first-, second- and third-place finishes.
Entry is $24 through Feb. 29, then bumps to $29 until March 31, then bumps to $34. Registration is available online.
A portion of proceeds will go to the new Pikes Peak area chapter of Achilles International, an organization devoted to bringing together able-bodied volunteers and disabled runners in an "environment of support and community." The main goal of Achilles Pikes Peak is to make sure that anyone who wants to participate in a run can do so.
