Wildife officials capture bear that roamed western Springs

It appears even bears were enjoying a little bit of sun on Saturday.

A bear was spotted by some sharp-eyed neighbors in the Rockrimmon area of Colorado Springs Saturday morning.

The male bear was about 2 years old, according to Randy Hampton, statewide spokesman for Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

The bear led wildlife officials on a chase for about an hour, before he was caught and tranquilized near the intersection of Rangewood and Lexington drives.

"He's being moved to an area about 50 miles west of here to play with other bears," Hampton said.

He warned it could be an active season for bear sightings because of dry conditions in the high country.

He also offered three tips to keep away the unwelcome guests: only put trash out on the morning of your pick-up, take down bird feeders and don't feed your pets outside.

No one was hurt in Saturday's "bear"-raising adventure.
