Corn Harvest benefits avalanche center, forecasters

THE GAZETTE

It was a lackluster snow year in Colorado, but that doesn't mean the folks at the Colorado Avalanche Information Center had less work to do. In fact, they may have had more work than normal.

Storm cycles left a fragile snowpack that was precarious to backcountry users especially.

A fundraiser to help keep the center operating at full tilt will be held Saturday at Loveland Ski Area. It's the 11th annual Corn Harvest, a great chance to show your support and meet the avalanche experts in person.

And since Loveland is open through Sunday, you can take a final couple of runs while doing a good deed.

Entry is $60 and includes some refreshments and a chance at prizes ($30 if you have a pass or ticket). See all the details.
