13-year-old skier dies on Copper Mountain

A 13-year-old boy died Friday after a skiing accident on Copper Mountain.

Copper Mountain Ski Patrol got the emergency call just before 1 p.m. that a boy was severely injured on the beginner trail, Vein Glory. Copper Mountain spokesperson Austyn Williams said he was not wearing a helmet.

The boy was taken to Saint Anthony's Copper Mountain Medical Clinic. Summit County Sheriff spokesperson Tracy LeClair said he was pronounced dead after 2 p.m. The coroner's office has not released additional details.
