UPDATE: Celebrate Dad's Day with an 8K

There's still time to sign up for the inaugural Springs Spree Fathers Day 8K scheduled for June 17.

The course winds through Memorial Park just east of downtown Colorado Springs on Father's Day and is part of this year's Spring Spree celebration.

The race begins at 8 a.m. near the Velodrome, just south of Pikes Peak Avenue and Union Boulevard on the east side of the park.

There also will be a 1-mile family run/walk at 9 a.m.

Awards will be given to the first-, second-, and third-place runners in each category in the 8K race. There also will be a prize given to the newest dad and the oldest dad whose kids are with him.

UPDATE: Sign up using the Promo Code "Chick" and Leave Your Mark Events will donate $5 to the Chick-fil-A Patriots' Festival Charities: The Home Front Cares, The Peace Officers Memorial, The Firefighter's Foundation and the National EMS Memorial Service.

Race registration is $30 through Saturday and $35 on race day (although you may not get a T-shirt). Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m.

Registration for the fun run/walk is $35.
