Hewlett Gulch trail reopens, Greyrock closed after fire

In case you're headed north for the long holiday weekend:

The Hewlett Gulch trail, which was closed by the recent wildfire, reopened Thursday, but the Greyrock trail will remain closed, according to a news release from the Canyon Lakes Ranger District.

District officials warned visitors to the area there is still a fire burning in the district and to be cautious.

About half of the district's campsites are open for Memorial Weekend and most are booked.

The district is in a Stage One fire restriction, which limits where and what type of fires visitors can have.

The district's visitor information center in Fort Collins is at 2150 Centre Ave., Building E, which will be open starting May 26, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.

The Arrowhead Visitor Center in Bellvue, 3494 W. Highway 14, opens May 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.

Redfeather Visitor Center, 274 Dowdy Lake Road in Red Feather Lakes, is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays.
