Copper Mountain event raises $1,800 for injured Springs native
An event at ski area Copper Mountain this weekend raised $1,800 for medical expenses for Sally Francklyn, a Colorado Springs native who wasseriously injured in March in a skiing accident near Jackson, Wyo.
She remains hospitalized and in a coma. She was a ski patroller at Copper Mountain for several years. Her father is Reg Francklyn, a longtime volunteer and former president of El Paso County Search and Rescue.
At the event, dubbed CopperMan, contestants battled an obstacle course that included, among other challenges, a giant vat of hot chocolate. See photos from the event here.
A Copper Mountain spokesman says $900 was raised for her medical expenses, which the ski area matched. Interested in donating? The family has a website here, which indicates they have raised $8,000 so far.
We're waiting to hear updates on Sally's condition. We'll pass them along when we do.
