18 Hours of Fruita is test of endurance
Sleep while you can, mountain bikers. The 8th Annual 18 Hours of Fruita @ Highline Race is on for May 4 and 5 at Highline Lake State Park.
Racers will hit the trail solo and in teams at midnight and ride through Saturday on a 6.5-mile loop around Highline and Mack Mesa lakes. Winners will complete the most laps in 18 hours.

Registration is closed, but there's a waiting list, and you never know when you may get that call.
Spectators are welcome, and may enter through the east or west entrances of the park; a $7 day pass or a valid Colorado State Parks annual pass is required on each vehicle.
If you're headed to the the park for boating, fishing or picnicking use the west park entrance from noon May 4 through May 5. The entire trail system, east day use area and campground are reserved for the race. Camping at Highline Lake is not available May 4 or May 5.
Highline Lake State Park is about 10 miles northwest of Fruita.
