Hiker lost on Capitol Peak found safe Saturday
ASPEN — A hiker made her way safely down Capitol Peak after getting lost Saturday.
A woman called the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office early Saturday afternoon to say she was lost in a boulder field below the summit. She was returning to camp while the rest of her hiking group was heading toward the summit, she said.
Mountain Rescue Aspen members tried to talk the woman down the standard route via cellphone. She had been separated from her group for more than four hours.
After about 80 minutes, she called the rescue group to say she could see another hiking party. She joined that group for the descent.
A man found his way back to camp Tuesday night after losing his route on Mount Massive on Monday.
