Injured climber rescued at Snowmass Mountain
ASPEN — An injured climber was rescued at Snowmass Mountain on Sunday afternoon and taken to Aspen Valley Hospital, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office.
The climber was not identified. Mountain Rescue Aspen and the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office worked together in the rescue.
The rescue effort began at 11:40 p.m. Saturday following an emergency call.
Rescuers took the climber to a spot near Gem Lake suitable for helicopter evacuation. The climber was flown at 7 p.m. Sunday to the hospital where workers prepared for another airlift to Swedish Medical Center in Denver, the news release said.
