Memorial service for Boulder climber set for Aug. 18

A public memorial service will be held Aug. 18 for Gil Weiss, who apparently plunged to his death with friend and climbing partner Ben Horne while descending Palcaraju Peak in Peru in July.
The service will be held at the Bluebell Shelter at the base of the Flatirons in Chautauqua Park in Boulder.
Attendees will hike to the shelter at 10:30 a.m. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m.
A wake will be held at Shine, 2027 13th St., Boulder, following the service, according to the Daily Camera.
