Mountain States Cup schedule released

The Mountain States Cup Rocky Mountain Regional Championship Series will hit Salida, Angel Fire, Crested Butte, Steamboat Springs and Telluride in 2012.

It's the first stop in Steamboat Springs since 2004.

The series, which features Endurance, Gravity and Super D racing, will hold events in Steamboat on July 20, 21 and 22.

Mountain States Cup Director Keith Darner told Steamboat Today: “Riders are excited to come to Steamboat to see a new Downhill, Super D and cross-country course.”

Darner said the event was able to come back to Steamboat after the Steamboat Ski Area and the U.S. Forest Service committed to building downhill trails at the ski area.

The series begins May 18 in Salida with the Riverside Rampage and continues at the Chile Challenge on June 8 in Angel Fire, the Wildflower Rush on June 22 in Crested Butte, the Storm Peak Stampede on July 20 in Steamboat and the Full Tilt on Aug. 10 in Telluride.
