Missing hiker may have headed in 'wrong' direction

Boulder and Grand county rescue crews continue to search for a missing hiker who officials now believe may have been headed in the opposite direction of where she initially was believed to be hiking, officials said Tuesday.

Patricia Wallace, 74, of Lafayette, was reported missing at 4 p.m. July 3. She was last seen hiking the Buchannan Pass Trail with a group of friends in the area of Camp Dick near the 50-mile marker of the Peak to Peak Highway.

Her friends told officials Wallace decided to take a route down that she thought would be easier.

But two people have they saw someone resembling Wallace hiking up the trail in the opposite direction on the day she was reported missing, according to Cmdr. Rick Brough with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

Brough said both Boulder and Grand counties will deploy rescue dogs in the area Wednesday.

Anyone who may have seen Wallace should call the Boulder County Sheriff's Office at 303-441-4444.
