Monarch Mountain ski area opens for the season
Snowboarders enter the newly remodeled lodge at Monarch Mountain as the snow begins to pick up Dec. 14, 2012, during the opening day. It was the second latest opening since 1989 for the ski area, but the opening day was welcomed with heavy snow by the afternoon.
