More trees for Colorado Springs

Meg Remple of the Middle Shooks Run Neighborhood Association helps unload trees from a trailer Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the City of Colorado Springs Park and Recreation on Recreation Way. Volunteers and city forestry employees unloaded about 350 trees purchased with money from the city's Damaged Tree Fund and sales from previous Arbor Day tree sales. The volunteers will plant some of the trees in their neighborhoods and some will be sold by the city as a fund raiser to purchase more tree. Colorado Springs loses about 500 trees a year from old age, drought, and disease, but currently can only replace about 250 of them. (The Gazette, Christian Murdock)
